Separate stay plan

The itinerary now clearly separates the accommodation. The group still travels together for the main activities, but the overnight base is split between Colmar Tropicale and Berjaya Hills Golf & Country Club.

Instagrammable coffee & photo stops

Two proper coffee breaks plus an optional Chin Swee photo stop. Starbucks at Chin Swee is no longer included because the outlet is gone.

Day 2 · relaxed coffee stop

La Boulangerie · Colmar Tropicale

French pastries, specialty coffee, cobblestones, colourful timber façades, and café tables that feel like a small European village.

Best shot: Sit outdoors and frame the coffee against the half-timbered buildings. Morning light is calmer and less crowded.
Day 1 · optional photo stop

Chin Swee · photo stop only

There is no longer a Starbucks here. Stop only if the timing is good for Buddha, temple, forest, and mountain-view photos.

Best shot: Use the temple architecture and misty highland view as the backdrop. Keep the stop short so SkyWorlds stays on schedule.

Day 1 · before Awana SkyWay

Cheeky Grind · Resorts World Awana

Small-batch coffee and pastries in a rainforest-inspired setting. It opens from 7:00 AM, making it the easiest proper coffee stop before SkyWorlds.

Best shot: Use the warm timber counter and tropical leaf graphics as the backdrop; keep this stop to 15–20 minutes.

The timings are realistic for a 3:00 AM drive and leave enough breathing room for fatigue, weather, and holiday traffic.

Drive and traffic strategy

Instead of pushing too hard, this plan builds in realistic buffers and keeps the longest drive concentrated on Day 1 and the return day.

  1. 1
Penang → GentingStart at 3:00 AM and use Day 1 for SkyWay, coffee, and SkyWorlds.
  2. 2
Genting → Berjaya HillsLeave after the park and check into the two accommodations that evening.
  3. 3
Stay inside Berjaya HillsDay 2 is local and relaxed: Colmar, coffee, rest, and easy photos—no hiking.
  4. 4
Berjaya Hills → KL → PenangEat tapsilog, collect Jollibee takeaway, then continue home.

Weather-aware plan

Sat · 29 Aug
Possible afternoon thunderstorm. Do outdoor Genting rides first and keep the rain backup ready.
Sun · 30 Aug
Keep Colmar photos flexible, with café and hotel rest time if rain arrives.
Mon · 31 Aug
KL food stops and the return drive. Check National Day traffic before checkout.
Forecast checked 27 Aug 2026. Re-check the night before and each morning because highland weather can change quickly.

Meet-up and split plan

This makes the separate accommodation easy to follow for everyone.

Day 1 Genting
Stay together through Awana, SkyWay, and SkyWorlds; agree on a park regroup point if anyone splits off.
Day 1 check-in
After Genting, Bev, Jed, and Joan head to Colmar Tropicale, while Vince checks into Berjaya Hills Golf & Country Club.
Day 2 morning
Meet at Colmar lobby for an easy breakfast, coffee, and photo stroll. No hiking and no Genting transfer.
Day 2 night
Confirm luggage, tapsilog timing, Jollibee takeaway orders, and driver rotation.
Day 3 departure
Check out and regroup at Colmar main entrance before driving to Kuala Lumpur.
